December 17, 2025 – Lots to celebrate at the end of this quarter! Abby and Nikki passed their first quals, Alex and Miranda passed their second quals, and Jenna completed her first quarter of teaching!

July 25, 2025 – the lab had a great trip to Ann Arbor for the Dynein 2025 meeting where Alex and Miranda presented a fantastic lab poster!

June 17, 2025 – Lab lunch to celebrate our new graduate students Nikki and Abby and the return of Alec for the summer!
March 11, 2025 – The tissue culture side of our lab is officially up and running!!!
February 4, 2025 – On top of being excellent experimentalists, multiple members of the lab have hidden singing skills!
December 18, 2024 – The lab enjoyed a respite from the freezing Chicago weather at the American Society for Cell Biology meeting in San Diego!
November 21, 2024 – Both Miranda and Alex passed their qualifying exams unconditionally! Congratulations and well-deserved for your hard work!

September 13, 2024 – Miranda presented the first ever Christensen lab poster at the Molecular Biophysics Symposium!
August 30, 2024 – We had a bittersweet goodbye with our first lab alumnus, Alec! Alec joined the lab on Day 1 and immediately took the lab by storm with his western blot skills and constant positivity. He is off to medical school in Ireland and is going to be a fantastic physician! We will miss you Alec!
August 9, 2024 – It was a beautiful day for the Christensen Lab Inaugural Field Day! We were coordinated enough to even manage a water balloon toss and short spike ball tournament and topped it off with getting to visit some of Skyler’s foster kittens ðŸ˜
July 25, 2024 – The stars aligned and everyone is protoplasting in lab today! Looking forward to having tons of strains to image next week on our new microscope!
July 25, 2024 – Christensen lab seeks their revenge for back-orders by dunking Fisher rep Mike!
April 19, 2024 – brunch, a ‘self-guided’ tour through the world’s largest Starbucks, and a fun Chicago Cytoskeleton meeting!

March 12, 2024 – check out one of the first movies from our lab! We are doing spinning disk confocal demos and captured early endosomes (green) and peroxisomes (magenta) moving in these Aspergillus hyphae! If you look closely maybe you can see some hitchhiking events 🙂 Thanks to Evident, 89North, and CrestOptics for setting up these demos! Taken on the Crest V3.
March 6, 2024 – it’s Western Wednesday! Miranda and Alec are dressed the part and fixin’ to lasso some dynein!
February 9, 2024 – Jenna gave a talk and introduced the lab at the department seminar series!
February 2, 2024 – When not in the lab, Skyler moonlights as a Northwestern expert and campus tour guide! Today she treated us to a personalized campus tour and we took our first official lab photo!
January 23, 2024 – Big day! We made Aspergillus and bacterial plates, arranged equipment, and ran our first PCR! Looking forward to waking up some Aspergillus tomorrow.
January 5, 2024 – our PCR machines have arrived!!!!!!!!!
January 2, 2024 – The Christensen Lab is open! It was a busy day of obtaining ID cards, washing ‘new-to-us’ glassware, and using the label maker.
August 2023 – Aspergillus strains are ready for long distance transport from San Diego to Chicago! Thanks to Khalil for assistance with prepping over 500 strains and the RP lab Aspergillus team for moral support!
